Damp and Mould Policy
Glen Oaks Housing Association is reviewing its Dampness, Mould and Condensation Policy to ensure it remains effective, reflects current good practice and complies with the requirements of Investigation and Commencement of Repair (Scotland) Regulations 2026, commonly known as Awaab's Law.
The new legislation comes into force on 6 October 2026 and introduces statutory requirements for landlords to investigate reports of damp and mould and carry out repairs within prescribed timescales.
The proposed policy strengthens Glen Oaks' commitment to providing homes that are safe, warm, dry and substantially free from damp and mould. It introduces clear timescales for investigations and repairs, improves communication with tenants, and places greater emphasis on identifying and addressing the underlying causes of damp and mould problems.
As part of our commitment to tenant participation, we would welcome your views on the proposed changes before the policy is presented to the Board for approval.
